Early unofficial results are in, or more accurately, have been leaked. Of the preliminary units of soldiers taking the test the results have not been good for women. Around 85% of women failed the test compared to 30% of men.
While this may be concerning for some, Major General Lonnie Hibbard reminds all that the previous fitness test was in place for 35 years. Change takes time and “we have to train for this test.” She also reminds soldiers that there is still a year to prepare as the full implementation is not until October 2020. She notes that many of the soldiers taking the test are taking it for the first time and that could account for the high failure rates.
The test, which includes 5 new events- in addition to the 2 mile run is designed to evaluate functional fitness.

Hibbard, and others, believe that as soldiers test and become familiar with the new events scores and passing rates will dramatically improve. Be sure your unit has the gear they need for success!
